That’s Mr Marks & Mr Spencer to you and I!
So, I’ve seen the adverts, heard the hype, seen the Tweets and Facebook statuses – I wasn’t that bothered. But Emma decided we were boycotting the Chinese Takeaway last night and she was going to Dine for £10 with M&S – in she trundled after work with some packets in a bag…..
– Cook! Pork Medallions
– Roast Potatoes
– Hot Chocolate Fudge Pudding
– Gaston de Veau Chardonnay
We headed off to the pub for an early evening drink before coming back to eat…. “I’m starving” she declared as we walked through the door….
- I opened the Pork Medallions, not much to it – nice looking meat but not a lot there? The sauce looked quite appetising mind!
- Emma opened the Roast Potatoes – “an hour?” was all I heard – we could cook our own in less time!
Interestingly you get one accompaniment, so Potatoes or Veg would obviously become a question…. We’ve always got veg in, so this wasn’t an issue for us – but I can see how it might be for others expecting a full meal for £10.
We served up an hour later, and had a thoroughly nice meal – Emma insisted on dining by candlelight (as we were dining and not just eating!!). The wine was nice, and Emma thoroughly enjoyed the Hot Chocolate Fudge Pudding (she’s a pudding person, and a chocolate person – I’m just the latter really!).
I think M&S have cracked this in the marketing (a topic I talked briefly about yesterday), this is a simple meal but they’ve packaged it up and sold it in a different way – right down to having a Butler outside M&S in town yesterday!
Looks delicious.
But what about the portion sizes? From your pictures, either the portions are tiny, or the plates are huge!
The plates are large (Emma insisted on getting wedding present plates out as well!!!), but you’re quite right the portion sizes weren’t that great… Emma stocked up on the pudding (three helpings), as I’m not a pudding person really I had a little and then topped up on wine!!
Nice photos! Thanks for sharing.
