I never really understood Twitter, and discussed it with a colleague and we both completely agreed that I didn’t want to tell the world every time I made coffee or went to the toilet.
Not so long ago I added a plugin to my WordPress installation that would create a Twitter post everytime I posted a blog entry. I let it run and never really did anything with it apart from let it update. Then this week one of my readers (you know who you are 😉 ) started following me on Twitter. Direct Contact psp With renewed energy I investigated Twitter….
I don’t want it on my phone, bleeping every ten seconds, it would drive me potty! But after installing TwitterFox, all my status updates appear in my TwitterFox bar… I could get quite into it… Of course this is all posted back to this blog, so you can see my tweets under “What I’m doing” on the right!
Now the ultimate question is do I want to connect it again to Facebook and close the loop? Nah I don’t think so, I can rant a little more on Facebook as only my close friends see my updates there 🙂
🙂
I don’t really understand the draw myself, I just know I like it.
Sinéads last blog post..Blackened thumbs forever
Well this last post was almost entirely your fault, I hadn’t played with it for months until you started following me!!!
I started out a complete sceptic. Now I use it to share the odd link and make sarcastic comments. It’s taken over from my facebook status entirely.
I had the two linked, but I once made a slightly untoward comment about work before realizing that it would be posted to about 20 different services. This led to a very frantic search of the cloud trying to destroy the evidence before my boss logged into Facebook.
It’s a great tool and can be a lot of fun, but as with all these things you need to watch what you say 😉
The same as me then, I just can’t see the point for some things. I’m also wary of what I share…
Several people have recently asked me about securing their Facebook with Friend Lists so they can control who can see what, I need to have a proper play with it…
I did debate getting a Twitter account for the business so I could issue updates for servers on there…
Twitter is everywhere. I first say it at SXSW. Now its viral
I believe it probably is viral, don’t get me wrong – but I’ve yet to find a real “use” for it!
Twitter, isn’t it just another link farm? Site for website owners trying to get more traffic to their blogs? But what do I know?:)
I agree with you Jane it could be used in that way, but I’m also finding it’s great for time sensitive stuff!
